Older Adults

Older adults face unique experiences and challenges, including physical, emotional, cognitive and spiritual changes. Older adulthood requires coping with loss, adapting to change, finding resolution with current and past events and relationships, and coming to terms with mortality. It is frequently a time of wrestling with regrets and a desire to deepen self-knowledge and self-acceptance. Older adults frequently seek to find new ways to connect with others, retain and build vitality, contribute meaningfully, experience more joy and pleasure, and share wisdom.

Engaging in psychotherapy can be helpful in working through experiences, dealing with loss and discovering new forms of self-expression. This process can facilitate greater acceptance of oneself, connection to one's own thoughts, feelings and experiences, a sense of satisfaction, and a firmer sense of meaning and purpose.
