Barbara Petterson, MFT, ATR

As a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and registered Art Therapist, I work with individual
adults wanting to experience increased freedom,
satisfaction and effectiveness in their lives, along with
a decrease in suffering. This can happen through developing a better understanding of oneself and
one's relationships within the context of a supportive therapeutic relationship.

My therapeutic style is interactive and collaborative. We'll work together to increase your access to your inner ways of knowing and your capacity to try new things.

I have many years of experience helping individuals, families and groups, and supervising and training individuals working toward licensure as therapists in community-based settings and private practice. 

I have a bachelor of science degree in Psychology
from San Francisco State University, a master of science degree in Counseling from San Francisco
State University and a master of arts degree in Art Therapy from Notre Dame de Namur University.

I am a member of the Northern California Art Therapy Association, the California Association of Marriage
and Family Therapists, the Psychoanalytic Institute of Northern California, the Northern California Society for Psychoanalytic Psychology and part of the supervising faculty at The Psychotherapy Institute. I am licensed
as a Marriage and Family Therapist by the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences and registered as an Art Therapist by the Art Therapy Credentials Board.
