Older adults face unique experiences and challenges, which may include physical, cognitive, emotional and/or spiritual changes. Old age requires adapting to change, coping with loss, finding resolution with past events and relationships, and coming to terms with mortality. It is frequently a time to look for new ways to connect with others, retain vitality, contribute meaningfully, experience joy and pleasure, and share wisdom.
Art therapy and psychotherapy can be helpful in working through experiences, dealing with loss, discovering new forms of self-expression, and developing greater acceptance, wholeness and enjoyment.
